January 2025 Update
Following an amazing stint to get the Rose & Thistle back open in the summer and continuing through the Christmas period, Darren and Lucy will be stepping down from running the pub at the end of January. We wish them all the very best in taking an extremely well earned rest. They have overseen the return of the RAT as a community pub and I am sure the community will join me in thanking them both for their enormous endeavours over the last 6 months.
The pub will continue to open 3 days per week throughout January and in to the spring with plans for more extended open hours beyond this. Details of any changes and additions to the management team will be posted on the website and on social media.
For now, we are sure you will join us in wishing them all the very best, and thanking them for all their efforts to get our much loved pub back on the map.
November 2024 Update
What an incredible six months we have had!
Firstly, we would like to start by saying a heartfelt thank you, again, for your continued loyalty and support. Who would have believed, earlier this year, where we are today. From the inception of our dream of becoming a community run pub, we have been committed to being fully transparent with our plans and, in that vein, want to give you our latest update.
The success we have had since re-launching the restaurant has been phenomenal. We anticipated having to build from a slow start but your unwavering support blew this idea out of the water – and for that, we thank you!
As you may know, we are in the process of recruiting for a Sous-Chef and front of house staff to provide the continued level of quality and service you deserve and expect. Until we have found and trained our new team members, we are going to focus on our weekend service; from Friday lunchtime through to Sunday evening (all day service, as advertised). These are our busiest days, allowing us to concentrate on all the behind-the-scenes work on the days leading up to weekend service. Our Christmas opening hours remain unchanged – all opening hours are listed at the bottom of our website. If you know of anyone, or anyone who might know someone who may meet our staffing needs, please put a good word out for us.

How We Started
It all started when the Villagers wanted to keep their beloved country pub!
It’s was an eventful few months, as covered by the Salisbury Journal.
We plan to add to our story here, using this website to update you regularly with what is happening. All the people who made this happen, thank you. You all know who you are.
